Description
Canker sores and cold sores are often confused with each other, but they are not the same. Cold sores are caused by a virus; canker sores are not. Cold sores typically appear on the lips, outside the mouth. Canker sores always appear inside the mouth. Canker sores are small whitish-gray blisters that appear on the tongue, inside the cheeks, or on the soft palate. They are small but very painful! There is no single cause, but cheek biting, stress, braces, dentures, and other factors may trigger them.
